Vaginal Pessary Fitting Service
We also offer a vaginal pessary fitting service. This service is led by a physiotherapist and is specifically designed to help those experiencing the symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse, laxity and urinary incontinence. Not all women with these symptoms will require a pessary, if you are not sure, please contact us: info@gillianmccabe.co.uk
The pessary fitting appointment includes the following:
- Discussion of your symptoms & goals
- Internal Vaginal Examination
- Speculum Examination
- POP-Q Prolapse Assessment & Staging
- Advice & Guidance relating to pessary needs
- Trial of up to 2 different pessaries in the session (a trial includes insertion of a pessary, movement, passing urine with pessary in situ, and if possible, a trial of an activity that may trigger your symptoms)
- If a pessary is deemed suitable and in stock, you can take it away / have it fitted on the day. If the pessary is not in stock, you will be invited back to the clinic when it arrives. The cost of the pessary is not included in the assessment cost.
